Ashriel Lutz – President

Where were you born and raised?
I am a Colorado native and grew up in the suburbs around Denver – both Arvada and Littleton.

How did you end up in Denver?
I left Colorado to attend the University of Oklahoma and spent a year traveling after getting my degree. At that point I was ready to move back to a familiar place and met my husband, Ryan, just a few months after I’d returned to Denver. He was in school for several years and once he’d finally graduated we knew we wanted to stay in Denver long-term to raise our family.

What are you doing when your kids are at school?
A little bit of everything these days! I worked in the finance world up until a few years ago and am now a stay-at-home mom. I still have one daughter not in school full-time so we have fun adventures every week! In my free time I enjoy running, playing tennis and exploring my artistic side.

Tell us about your family.
My husband, Ryan, and I have three daughters – Scarlett (5th grade), Harlowe (2nd grade) and Taryn (age 4). We enjoy family bike rides, movie nights and skiing in the winter.

Why did you choose Swigert?
We initially chose Swigert because of its proximity to our home. Over the years we’ve grown to love the school and community.

What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
Definitely getting in a morning run followed by cheering my kids on as they play their favorite sports. An afternoon barbecue or relaxing at an outdoor concert are always a good idea!

Kristin Yeager – Vice President

Where were you born and raised?
I grew up in a neighborhood quite similar to Stapleton on the south side of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

How did you end up in Denver?
After graduating from CSU (go Rammies!), I moved to Denver for law school. Shortly after I started practicing law, I met my husband when my boss (his aunt!) set us up on a blind date. Chad and I were married here and knew Denver was where we wanted to raise our family.

What are you doing when your kids are at school?
I feel very lucky to be a stay at home mom! It has allowed me the opportunity to volunteer at Swigert, with my kids’ extraciricular activities, and in other capacities. I also enjoy yoga, reading, and managing the Yeager household.

Tell us about your family.
Chad and I have two kids: Anna in 1st grade and Jackson in 3rd grade. We love the Broncos, traveling and family bike rides.

Why did you choose Swigert?
The IB program initially swayed us to Swigert but the teachers and staff are unparalleled as is the school community. Walking to school is pretty cool too!

What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
An ideal Saturday would include brunch, sports, and /or grilling out with friends and family.

Carrie Schmeltekopf – Treasurer

Where were you born and raised?
I was born outside of Chicago, but I mostly grew up in Tampa, FL (I still miss the beach).

How did you end up in Denver?
After attending graduate school in Phoenix, I was offered a job in Denver. My husband and I had never been here before, but we figured we would try it out. We ended up loving it and decided to stay (that was 15 years ago).

What are you doing when your kids are at school?
I’m currently a stay at home mom. I keep busy with errands and keeping up with my three children. I also enjoy playing tennis, baking and woodworking.

Tell us about your family.
My husband Stephen and I met in the Netherlands, on a college trip abroad, 20 years ago. We now have three children – Carolyn (6th grade at McAuliffe), Luke (4th grade), and James (2nd grade).

Why did you choose Swigert?
After visiting the neighborhood schools we decided that Swigert was the best fit for our family. We specifically liked the IB program and the international aspect of the school.

What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
I love cooking a big breakfast and relaxing in the morning and then spending time with the family for the rest of the day. In the winter we like to go skiing together.

Molly Lacy- Secretary

Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in St.Paul, Minnesota (but am a die-hard Wisconsin Badger fan!)

How did you end up in Denver?
I moved to Denver to attend University of Denver for graduate school (in Social Work).  I met my husband here, fell inlove with the mountains and haven’t ever left…

What are you doing when your kids are at school?
I now spend my days with our youngest daughter, trying to balance naptimes, workouts, mom-tot classes and juggling two businesses – GeorgiaLu Gifts and Stationery and Scout & Cellar Wines.  Prior to staying home, I was a School-Based Social Worker in Jefferson County Schools for nearly 14 years!

Tell us about your family.
My husband John and I have three kids (Cash (4th grade), Georgia (2nd grade) and Marlo (nineteen months)).  We enjoy spending time with friends and family, being active, traveling, cooking, reading and cheering on our favorite sports teams…

Why did you choose Swigert?
We really didn’t; Swigert “chose” us.  Our son received a coveted ECE spot and we immediately felt like part of the community.  As an educator, our school really struck me as a special place and we feel very lucky that our kids get to go to school there every day.

What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
I love a good Saturday with nothing on the calendar but that doesn’t happen too often in our house! I like to start the day with a good workout, a cup of coffee and usually spend at least part of the weekend attending my kids’ sports games and having lunch on a patio someplace…A good book and a
cuddle with my kiddos is always perfect, too.
